I won a code for this, courtesy http://www.consolemonster.com, and having never played any previous incarnation, I did’nt know what to expect.
Turns out it’s pretty good and I’ve missed some great games. Ah well. So anyways, I booted up the game, and got cracking, and first impressions are that there’s plenty of meat on this game, with a load of different game types. There’s: 1. Singleplayer 2. Campaign – Online with friends 3. Survival – Not in the demo 4. Realism – Not in the demo 5. Verus – Not in the demo 6. Survival – Not in the demo 7. Scavenge – Not in the demo So the full game looks like it’ll keep you busy for a while, but this of course is a demo. I played the first two levels before getting interrupted, (life has a way of doing that), and played like I would play Call of Duty ie, like Rambo, and apparently, this is how you’re not supposed to play it, still, it worked. I’m not sure if I like the ammo count, you dont seem to ever run out, but it’s an arcade game after all, but health is a different matter, you have to find health packs, injectors, and painkillers. The weapons are pretty decent too, but for me it’s the melee weapons, and man, did I love the frying pan or what? I just loved smashing zombie heads, and there’s a lot of heads that need attention. It also has some genuinely scarey moments, and some that will have you screaming, (play with the lights off for full effect!!) I have to say, it’s probably not my type of game, I like a bit more strategy, and the trip wire gameplay is’nt a favourite either, it’s just too damn scripted. Still, for some reason I found my self playing it again today, and probaly tomorrow too. I loved Zombie Apocalype, and a lot of people have said it’s a cheap ripoff of L4D, I dont see it, it’s a different type of gameplay alltogether. But both games have their merrits. And both will keep you busy for a while, but I think L4D will keep you busy for longer. Gameplay video: I'm not sure how to post the video, so I'll just post the link instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otVmpXUjoBY To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Got given a L4D2 demo code by the manager in my local Game (as I was moaning that I wouldn't get the game until Xmas) and downloaded this yesterday. Only had a couple of goes but here's my initial thoughts: First thing I will say is the graphics are a massive improvement on the first game- everything looks very sharp. Becuase of this the gore in the game is awesome.. Particularly when meeleeing your way through the crowds with a large knife. In addition to the melee weapons, there are also now adrenaline shots which work similarly to pain pills (that are still in the game).
Not sure about the witches wandering about. I'd imagine that this actually makes them easier to avoid, whereas in the original L4D they could sometimes spawn right in the path you needed to take which was a massive challenge in itself (and lead to many of us getting the cr0wned achievement). As for the new special infected.. well they're okay. The jockey will jump on your back (giggling like a maniac which brought a smile to my face) and will try and steer your character into crowds of infected. The spitter seems to be similar to the boomer but instead of boomer bile (which is actually something else you can pick up) she seems to spit some acidic goo... best avoided. And the charger seems like the tank's mini-me, in that he'll attack with his oversized arm and pummel you into submission. I did see hunter, smoker and boomer in the game, but in the demo the new special infected were certainly given a preference. All in all it seemed more of the same, except better looking, gorier and slightly more varied. The characters & new special infected have yet to grow on me as much as the original Left 4 Dead characters but I am sure they will. And there's rumours that there will be Avatar Awards in this game as well as achievements. At least the demo should get me through until Xmas... -- To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. NP, I would have had a better write up, but I think I've got the LURGY, and I feel battered.

Still unclear on how you know its a different type of game play altogether to the first one if you've never played it?
It's a nice write up but hype shouldn't contribute to it. |

Look at the whole quote, Phat:
"I loved Zombie Apocalype, and a lot of people have said it’s a cheap ripoff of L4D, I dont see it, it’s a different type of gameplay alltogether." He's played Zombie Apocalypse - and I am guessing as the gameplay of L4D2 is exactly the same as the first (just wiv better graphics, better weapons, increaed gore) he using that as a basis to compare the two -- To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. i love the demo, preordered it and got my code from gamestation.
I can see the new one being even better than the first, which i still love, this will keep me going for another year at least ![]() The new special infected and uncommon commons add new dimensions to the gameplay as does the new weapons. I like the ideas of some of the settings and its a shame the demo is of the parish as it looks the least enticing campaign to me. Cant wait for the dark campaigns and some vs action To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |

Is it true that this demo will not be made avaliable for those who dont preorder until AFTER its official release? And even then for a limited time? i know they did this with Left 4 Dead.
