FromSoftware has confirmed that its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title, The Duskbloods, will no longer launch in 2026 as initially planned. The game’s release has been postponed into 2027 to allow additional time for final development adjustments, according to the official game Twitter account.
The Duskbloods was described by the studio as a blend of Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Dark Souls influences, but with tactical combat elements including jetpacks and dinosaurs. The delay announcement comes after a network test revealed strong player interest as well as some technical issues.
Delay Focused on Final Adjustments and Balancing
In a statement issued via Twitter, FromSoftware said the game is in the final adjustment stage but requires further time to refine gameplay mechanics. The message explained that feedback from the network test underlined player enthusiasm for the combat system, strategic features, and opportunities for player expression. The postponement aims to enhance these core aspects by allowing the developers to finalise game rules and balance.
The network test reportedly attracted more applicants than the highly successful Elden Ring Nightreign test, despite The Duskbloods being confined to Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console. However, the initial test sessions faced connectivity problems, resulting in an abrupt end to the first test. Later sessions resolved these issues, but stability remains a key focus heading into the full release.
Impact on Nintendo Switch 2 and Player Expectations
The delay affects only the Nintendo Switch 2 platform, as The Duskbloods is confirmed as a console exclusive for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware. While the original window for launch was vague and set for 2026, there was unofficial speculation around a September release that has now passed without further communication.
Both Nintendo and FromSoftware have remained silent on further specifics since the network tests conducted in August. The postponement solidifies 2027 as the earliest confirmed release period, signalling a longer wait for Switch 2 players eagerly anticipating FromSoftware’s newest project.
Developers did apologise directly to fans for the delay, thanking them for their patience and continued support. The move suggests FromSoftware is prioritising delivering a polished experience for its Switch 2 player base, rather than rushing the launch.
